my boy put me on to this barbershop about a year ago. was not disappointed, time is taken, they always ask who i'm waiting for. if my barber is late, he lets me know (which is appreciated bc I like having appointments, rather than just sitting in line for hours on end). my barber is Lu, guy is fantastic. well verse always professional. takes what I want out of my cut & adds his little style. guy knows what he is doing, period! great environment. glad I found them. best shop I've ever been to.read more

Well Kept is one of a kind. There is no other barbershop in NY like it! The shops ambience is amazing. When you walk in, you immediately see the vintage details. The members of this shop are incredible, they go above and beyond for their clients. Definitely the best barbershop I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to numerous places all over queens and this place is the best. The atmosphere and the attention to detail for my cut was amazing. I tried this place because I haven't been to a barbershop since I was 10, and because of the reviews. Tbh I've been nervous about going to a barbershop because groups of straight guys make me nervous (as a hetero-passing gay dude). This place was AMAZING! Totally deserving of 5 stars. All of the guys in there were welcoming and nice, and my barber (Eddie) helped make my shaggy hair and ridiculous quarantine beard look clean and better than I could have imagined. My guy Romelo blessed it yet again and worked his magic with clippers, scissors, and a straight razor in a way that I never can. 🙏 I'm grateful for the talented folx at Well Kept, the good vibes and jams always bumpin' (great environment), and finally having the sense to invest in letting professionals do their thing. They take their craft seriously and it shows, but the vibe is always light and fun. I leave every time feeling like a new man, a million bucks, or 27.26 Bitcoins (at current exchange rates).Their cuts are consistently great and always worth the price, and I've observed that they're skilled at cutting all sorts of hair, doing fades, lines, designs, the works. As a queer person largely unable to pass for straight, I have a bit of anxiety entering barbershops given the overarching culture of toxic masculinity that comes to exist in those spaces. Been meaning to try this spot for a while and really happy with the haircut Cesar gave me. Man of few words, but did great work both with scissors on long hair and detail work along sideburns/hairline with a razor. Definitely a professional experience.You can book through their website or walk in like I did.The interior has a nice log cabin meets antique shop vibe and cozy feel to it, but despite having 7 chairs set up - doesn't feel cramped. I have been looking for a new barber in Astoria. So I thought I will try them out. Very clean place, nice people. But was not happy with haircut. I've been there 4 times. Kept thinking will get a descent haircut. All 4 times they did the opposite of what I wanted. In addition I specifically said I do not want a fade or blend. Paid 48 dollars everytime, when it says 35 for a regular haircut. Will not be using their service again. I am really upset with my haircut. Overpriced for a poor haircutread more

I was in the area for vacation because I couldn't get an appointment with my usual barber at home. I came across this shop since I came to the city and really wanted a haircut. First off, the shop has a great environment, I was greeted upon entry, and everyone in there is extremely professional. My barber was Jonah, who is extremely great at his job and detailed. The cut was scheduled for an hour and he went over that time by a bit because the amount of care he puts into his work, but it is worth it. He asks you what you want, how you want it, and delivers on it. If I'm back in the city and need a cut, I know where to go and who to ask for.read more

I been going to Ruben for many years now and followed him when he opened this gorgeous barbershop which he is constantly updating and making it more detailed so every time you notice something different. It gives a speakeasy vibe even showcasing barbershop antiques.I prefer using their system which is by appointment, which locks in your prefer barber. They have a easy to use app (Tip: Book beginning of the month). I say this because I read a review before how the app does not work because it shows no availability, that is because they are that good at what they do and get booked up immediately. The app will also show you other barbers available. When Ruben is not available, I go to Jose, also known as Thetattedbarber. Another reason is you choose the services on the app and the total price is shown so no surprises at the end of your cut.They do have walk ins, but that is up to your discretion.Ruben's attention to detail and passion for perfection is what makes the cost worth it. I can tell you from past experience with other barbers, I would have to come home and finish the job, at Well Kept, I can go straight to my next destination knowing my cut is complete.Pros: Easy to use App. Skillful Master Barbers. Where do I start: the owner, Ruben, has been cutting my hair for well over 15 years. He is professional, committed and is very detailed in his art (his art with the shape-ups and beards is phenomenal (very clean look), taking his time to make sure my haircut is sharp for my next court appearance before the judge with my client, my interview appearance as a legal advocate when I appear on Telemundo and Univision. December 16, 2021 at 3:38 pmNot a great experience. As a walk-in, I was assigned to the newest BARBER. He didn’t even have any Barbacide. I paid $95 for the full treatment: haircut, shave, steaming. The hot towels were not very hot. Nothing was fragrant, but the barbershop smelled like food. The most disappointing thing is that they didn’t have anyone providing any supervision to this new guy. That’s a clear indication of a leadership problem, and those are problems that don’t go away. In conclusion — For my money, I would probably go somewhere else.
