My first time here and had a great experience! Andre was my Barber, very professional and knows what he's doing. He took the time going over my hair. I can honestly say this is the best haircut I've had! When I got back home I got compliments. If you want a good haircut definitely check this place out. Very talented group of barbers. Staff is attentive, and barbers are well trained and skilled. The shop is always clean, neat, and the environment is always welcoming. The place is always busy whenever I go, and the barbers all greet you when you walk in. Places like this are far and few between. Definitely one of a kind, and my go-to. Also, it helps that they have two locations in JC, so it's super convenient, even coming from out of the area or Manhattan.read more

I have been going to Virile (in both Jersey City locations) for years now. Each time, I'm welcomed warmly and offered a drink. The place is always clean, the staff friendly, and the barbers skillful. I am always impressed by how busy it is, so I always make sure to schedule my appointments around a month out. Andre is my go-to and one of the master barbers, so I know his schedule fills up fast. The quality of the haircut is top notch and I always appreciate the clean, slick, straight razor shave whenever I'm there to trim my beard. I've been recommending this place to everyone I can because I think the whole place is top-notch. It's even more fun if you can get there when Chunk, the barbershop dog, is holding court. He's a hoot.read more

There's a place downtown JC where they hang your jacket and serve your favorite spirit on arrival. Felt more welcome and comfortable there than at my own home. Sadly was not allowed to move in. Somewhere in the back, they offer ridiculously amazing haircuts, shaves, and beard trims.read more

Both locations are stellar but I had an excellent experience with the newest addition to the team at the Jersey Ave location. I believe his name was Davideh or Dave? He was warm, welcoming and inviting. Erich was my barber, he did a phenomenal job. He listens and executes perfectly ! In addition, I applaud the business for being proactive and taking the recommended precautions by health experts to prevent spread of COVID. They have questionnaire for the clients to fill out for COVID screening (for possible contact tracing), temperature checks, mask wearing policy. It's great to know we have such professional barbershop in the neighborhood and a business owner that cares about public health.read more

Either Virile location yields one of the best men’s haircuts in Jersey City. The staff is friendly and the facility is very clean as part of taking covid precautions. Got a haircut from Erica who's an apprentice but honestly I thought she was a master barber because she did such a great job. Full disclosure; I'm Black and my hair is thicker than most of the clientele that Virile serves but every time i go I feel like the barbers I see do a great job, they know how to do fades, edge ups etc. I first got my haircut by Jacques who moved to another shop I think. He was great! This time I got my haircut with Erica and I was really impressed with her work, attention to detail, and over all professionalism. I look forward to returning. thank you!read more

I can’t imagine how good a “Master Cut” is, because the “Apprentice Cuts” are top tier.Not a cheap hair cut, but you walk out looking fresh every time. Perfect fades, scissor fades on-point, can’t get better.Well worth the cost. Only place I want to cut my hair in JC.read more

My go to haircut in JC. I have a crazy cowlick in the back and most barber have zero clue no how to cut it so it won't stick straight up. I had a phenomenal barber in LA and was looking for a new go to place in JC since I moved here. It took a few shops but finally found it. Rich, the master barber, did an excellent work.
