Good barber with great hours. Reasonably priced and very quick so you dont sit there all day waiting to get a haircut. To be honest the only downfall is that they wont use a straight razor for anything. Call that petty on my part but there is something about the barber using a straight razor that really makes me feel like I am at an old barber like my dad took me to as a kid.read more

I came here last month for a haircut and was very pleased with the result. I have been increasingly unhappy with the place I have been going to for many years. They never asked what I wanted (and never listened when I told them). The cuts were often uneven and would take a week before it looked "ok". But at Steel City, I was asked what look I wanted, and also given some good suggestions. After leaving, I felt that I had got exactly what I wanted. If only I had found them years ago! I'm actually looking forward to going back. I believe next time I will let them tackle a trim on my beard.read more

I had a hard time finding a place who didn't screw up my hair. Decided on trying Steel city beards and Shears bc of the great reviews and so glad I did. I've been going for over a year now and the ladies are excellent at what they do. I find the prices fair and don't mind spending more since they know what they are doing. I've been to specialty salons who have screwed up my color and have had my hair run. I have yet to run into that problem here and probably will not since Kristin and the ladies know what they are doing.read more

Was going to try this place until I saw they charge $20 for a men's haircut. I think that is a bit over the top for a mens short hair cut. Update 8-5-19 It is not up to you to donate my money if I were to cime in. I will donate to charities of my choice on my own. Do not use donations as an excuse for your high prices. You advertise as an old fashion Barber Shop and that is historically Mens Cuts not women. If you want to charge Beauty shop prices then change your name to Beauty Shop. I will continue to go to Tim's Classic Cuts. $17 for a men's cut.read more

I moved to the Lehigh Valley about a year ago after having the same hair dresser for 9 years prior to the move. I was extremely anxious to about going somewhere new but of course you can't just ignore your hair. I found Steel City because they are next to my nail salon and from the first time I walked in I have felt welcome. All of their stylists greet their customers upon arrival, entertain them with small talk about their families and their plans, making everyone feel like part of the gang. The owner is probably the most friendly person I have ever met and she has never even cut my hair. I have had 3 different girls do my hair now and all of them have been absolutely fantastic. I love this place, it is a gem. PS: the shop has an AMAZING black and red theme that really hints to that new school barber style and I think it's cool as heck! ❤️read more

Excellent, friendly service. I've never had a bad cut or beard trim here no matter which person does it. The online scheduling since covid happened is easy to use and convenient. When it was walk ins only, I'd show up and wait 40+ minutes sometimes (still worth it). Now you're in and getting a cut in no time. Highly recommend!read more

I am a cancer patient and have lost my hair in the past and Kris has helped me with different styles and cuts since my hair started growing back. let me start by saying that i am so picky when it comes to my hair that it's been over a year since I've had my hair cut. i always end up disappointed and dissatisfied with the chain salons i visit and it has really discouraged me from going somewhere new. i also have an undercut done so finding somewhere that can do women's (curly / wavy) hair AND a good undercut well is so hard. a coworker recommended these ladies to me and after reading the reviews i was super excited to try them out, and my experience surpassed my expectations! not only is the salon beautifully decorated and CLEAN, but the stylists are very warm and inviting and THEY LISTEN TO WHAT YOU WANT! i had about 12 inches cut off by Kristin and she asked if i wanted to donate it - YES PLEASE! I've always wanted to but used to color my hair so i never could, but this time i was able to donate my hair to children with cancer and i am overjoyed about that. she looked at the pictures i gave her and in no time at all i had a perfect cut with bangs AND a super cute undercut design. she then waxed my eyebrows and again, exactly what i wanted and even went back in with tweezers to clean up a spot i asked her to without acting like i was inconveniencing her which happens a lot at other places. their prices are amazing - hair cut, undercut, and eyebrows for only FIFTY BUCKS!? i am incredulous! and i was in and out in a flash! she was super nice to talk to; she made small talk but not awkwardly as can sometimes happen. just felt like i was catching up with an old friend. i seriously have so many good things to say. if i could give more than 5 stars i would. i can't wait to send my husband and son over because they do great work with men and children, too! thanks again so much, kristin. i feel like a million bucks!!!read more

That’s the type of barbershop, that you have to fix their job after coming home. The cut was rushed, beard trimmed with buzzer, leaving ton of hair on the neck. They didn’t even think about touching razor to shape the face.read more

Took a risk while out of town on this shop. The owner, Kris (sp?) was who quickly greeted me and got me in the chair. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and was slightly concerned how with only once quick look she got to work. Within 15 minutes I was out the door for $25 plus tip with the exact haircut I wanted. I was impressed with the efficiency, cleanliness of the shop. I am generally picky about haircuts and this is one of the better cuts I’ve received anywhere.read more

Mixed bag honestly. I bought a large value gift card a couple years ago and needless to say it took me forever to use solely because for the last year I've dreaded going. When I first started going cuts were of high quality, wait times were tolerable but it's just brutal these days. On what will be my final visit (gift card is finally done, thankfully) I waited 90 minutes for a cut. You can't make an appointment. Kris the owner is trying, she really is, staffing clearly isn't going well but I'm sure that's compensation driven because let's be honest people show up for compensation that's worth showing up for but I digress. If Kris cuts your hair it's going to be pretty good even when she is working her butt off trying to cut 80 people a day, anyone else it's a total toss up really. I had one girl multiple times and at this point I know her life story and every complaint that comes with it. A little professionalism would be nice.In summary, it's just overrun with customers. They're insanely short staffed and I'm honestly not sure it's a haircut that's anywhere above average. Your mileage may vary.read more

I had a great experience today with my 3 yr old son. I took him in and we sat for a bit waiting for his cut. Maybe 25 minutes? No problem! When it was our turn it was the owner who cut his hair. She was so great with my son - he’s a bit shy but he was talking with her a bit and she put him at ease. The best part was she pretending to cut his stuffed Mickey Mouse's hair and he thought that was great. That’s the extra stuff you want to see, in my opinion, that keeps you going back somewhere. My son also looked great when he was done.The place is very clean and cute. We will definitely be going back.read more
