Ray's Barber Shop in Tribeca, NYC is spacious barbershop, which can be tough to find in NYC. It's a relaxed atmosphere without loud music. They do all types of haircuts including but not limited to fade, flat top, tape-up, and layer cut. Haircuts include a nice hot towel and straight razor neck shave. All Razor Shaves include pre-shave creams, hot lather, steaming warm towel, post shave products and face massage. They do children's haircuts as well.

Brought my son here after our long-time barbershop closed. He had very curly hair that was quite long with bangs. He brought pictures and asked to take off maybe an inch or two, and specifically said to leave curls on the top with a bit shorter on the sides... Instead his hair was cut super SHORT, not a curl to be found anywhere. If you're a New customer - be very explicit and ask them to repeat it back to you. We definitely won't need another haircut for many months and will find someone else.read more

Terrible haircut. I recently moved from another neighborhood and was hoping to find a half decent barber nearby so I wouldn’t have to travel back to my old neighborhood. The barber at Rays ignored what I said, speedily chopped off way too much hair to ensure she could quickly move onto the next customer and to ensure I couldn’t possibly ask for more off. She had headphones in the whole time. I have no idea how this place has such high reviews, it’s truly awful.read more

I do not generally post reviews but this was an A+ haircut experience. In nine minutes, I got a better haircut than I have gotten from stylists who have taken 50 minutes. Ray’s Barber shop is my go to whenever I’m in lower Manhattan. Conveniently located only 3 blocks away from the Chambers St stop for both the 1,2,and 3 Lines and the A,C,and E lines. The barber shop is extremely clean and the environment is very friendly in here. They take care of you and offer a variety of different services. I always get a Medium skin fade and a line up. Expect to pay on average about 40 dollars for your cut after tip, which in Tribeca is reasonably priced. I always make sure to ask for Ray whenever I come in, or call ahead to confirm my appointment. This was a phenomenal experience, I genuinely believe this I had one of the best barbershop experiences I've ever had (I'm 24 years old, yes still young but consider my words here). The barber that cut my hair is named Mark and he did a great job. From cutting my hair in a way that made me feel very comfortable (didn't pull my hair, didn't jerk my head around, didn't cut hair and leave it in my face) to actually doing a good job at cutting my hair (faded my sides wonderfully, followed my sideburn line and evened where necessary, cut a very even amount on the top + followed my style), it was a great choice from me to go there. Very reasonably priced and will be going there from now on. I have come here on multiple occasions purely because of convenience relative to where I live. That said, EVERY single time I go, my hair gets cut shorter then i directed. I am convinced they are extremely "scissor happy" and have no concept of what a "lite trim" means. It was very quiet and not busy at all. Was speaking the owner I believe and it crazy how the closures have hurt small businesses. The pictures I have just provided is what my finished product looks like.This is completely unacceptable.On 01/23/2019 I walked into the barbershop at 9:30am. My barber was overall not a pleasant person at all.I asked to have the back of my head cleaned up and to have my beard trimmed down to a 1, and have my neck cleaned up as well.After being in the chair for exactly 8 minutes I was charged 24.00$ for this horrible work.THEN as I was inspecting the work done in the mirror, I could hear my “stylist” talking about me with a serious attitude in another language, followed by another employee who was sitting on the couch asking me if “everything was alright”I can promise you that I’ll never go back to this place as it is completely overpriced and NOT WORTH IT!!!!As a LOCAL GUIDE I ADVISE EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF TO STAY AWAY!!!Edit: I am trying to upload more photos of my bad haircut, but they’re only letting me upload one.
