I've been going to Joe madia's consistently for a year specifically to have Roberto cut my hair. He truly loves to cut hair and is highly proficient at his craft. On top of cutting hair well Roberto is an extremely friendly guy who never fails to make good conversation about anything. I have even fallen short on cash when coming in and he has let me pay him back at a later time. I don't get my hair cut anywhere else.read more

Fast service, very personable. Roberto made me feel as if he’d been my barber for years. Also, being I am from, and live in, Alabama, hospitality is a good quality to me.Also, I was there today when the gentleman below me (Mr. Gandhi) came into the shop. Seemed to me as if he wanted nothing more than his money back. Joe madia's barber shop has always given me quality haircuts. I am a young professional and I have been going here for over 5 years. No matter the barber, I've always been more than satisfied with their work. The barbers have always been very personable and respectful, paid much attention to detail, and passionate about what they do. I highly recommend. Just went here for the first time today, and I'll be honest, it was pretty much a perfect experience. My barber was Roberto, he did an excellent job and was just a really cool dude. My wait was very minimal, he got me in and out of the chair pretty quickly, but definitely took his time to make sure I got a great haircut. He hooked the beard up and it was on point, fade was really good too, and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great haircut an affordable price. I was visiting Pittsburgh and needed a haircut, so my hotel concierge called ahead. It was 3:30, they closed at 4:00, and they said they could fit me in. So I checked into my room and walked to Joe Madia’s. They cut my hair, staying 20 minutes after closing. Nice guy, quick and did a great job. They accept cash only so plan accordingly.read more

This barbershop is HANDS DOWN, the best barbershop I have been to in the Pittsburg area. Roberto is very easy to talk to, and a part of a great barbershop visit is good communication between the barber and the customer. All I had to do was show a picture and he got it done! Any ROTC guys? Well...you WILL NOT REGRET getting standards met here; the only thing you will regret is rucking 12 miles with hair in your face! Good barber in Pittsburgh. Nothing worse than ruining two hours of your day sitting at a barber, they get you in and out in under 20 minutes. Mike did a great job on my low skin fade. Normal prices as all other barbers as wellread more

Great cuts, in and out, open EARLY which makes getting a cut easier than anywhere else. I've had probably over 50 haircuts here and can't remember one that I wasn't happy with. They do a great military fade. I've been getting regular haircuts at this shop for around the last 3 years and would continue going if I wasn't moving.read more

Easy booking and nice experience. I just called them and they have availability (unlike some other place where they have you book in advance and most of the time they don’t have availability on the same day). This barbershop also has reserved parking spots in a parking lot across the street which is nice.read more

This is a great place to get a haircut for a fair price. My barber was Dino and he hooked me up with a cut I've been trying to achieve for a while now. The compressed air for cleaning off hair is a nice addition and I also like the arcade machine decorations on the wall. I'd definitely recommend going here.read more

After going to a bunch of places in Pittsburgh over the last few years, Joe Madia’s is the best. I always get a good cut every single time and it’s consistent. I can honestly say that I haven’t had a bad haircut yet regardless of who is actually cutting my hair. All of the barbers here are good and I’m always taken care of. The newest review right below mine is bongus.I was standing right there at the shop. From the very second he sat in the chair until he paid and left.First off the hair cut you asked for isn't a mid fade. Its actually a low bald drop fade, textured on top.Second off stop looking at AI photos. 75 percent of the hair cuts you see online are AI or have filters.The man asked for a double 00 and he pointed to the spot on his head where he wanted it taken and it would have been a high bald fade.Cody said so you want a bald fade he said no no. We'll bub a 00 is closer then a pair of clippers closed all the way. So next time know what your talking about and the type of cut you actually want.Also my last point, you stopped Cody a few different times and changed your cut up. Bub once you take hair off you cant put it back on. I feel like you set Cody up for a bad review. 👎I looked at the man's google reviews and every review for every place he goes he says someone stole or did something wrong. There are people out there like that.I know Cody very well, He is a GREAT barber, a great guy, he knows what he is talking about and doing.Please everyone dont listen to the review right below mine.Joe madias has been in the same area for 98 years for a reason.read more

I wanted to take a moment & share my awesome story with u in regards to Joe Madia's Barber Shop.Now here is the catch...i do wana leave a Positive 5 star review NOT because of a haircut...but something even more awesome...sure ive been told Owner/Master Barber Mr. Kevin Kappel & his associates are professionals when it comes to haircuts, but i wanted everyone to know how Kevin's big heart is actually his strongest trait.Yesterday, Thursday June 12th...i was in Pittsburgh, I currently live in Beaver County...a lil buddy of mine was graduating high school & the commencement ceremony was held at the UPMC Cooper House. Ive known my lil buddy Nick for years along with his family...the family including Nick invited me up to share in the celebration, how can I say no right? So I went to Pittsburgh & Pittsburgh was a complete mess as always with construction, one lane streets & no parking, i got there early due to this, I was driving around literally 30 minutes trying to find a parking spot with no luck, it was bad. I drive a big blue Gmc Sierra Truck & it wouldnt fit into the Forbes Garage or any Garage, so my options are limited to only open lots which is ok with me. So frustrated & hurting with my next decision, I randomly pulled over in a lot & called Nick's mom to tell her I cant find a parking spot, I might not be able to come see him graduate. JUST as I got her on the phone, this tough looking guy walks up to my truck window, lol in my mind i didnt want trouble, hahaha im like oh crap, i told the gentleman im sorry Sir, I had to pull in & make a quick phone call, im trying to find a place to park with no luck & my lil buddy is graduating & im running out of options. Kevin introduced himself real cool like & said he owns the lot & he offers parking. I smiled & said Sir i really wana see my lil buddy graduate, and Kevin seen how sincere i was, i even said Sir u got me by the balls, il pay watever if u can allow me to park here just for a few hours, id appreciate it so i can see the kid graduate & il come back & move the truck. Kevin said tell ya wat, my fee is $30, il make room for ya & he did. I parked the truck round 11am, gave Kevin my truck keys & ran up & watched Nick graduate, came back by 2pm, got my keys back off of Kevin & thanked him again & headed home.Folks the moral of the story, i wanted to write this positive review, Kevin & his associate yesterday were real stand up fellas. Again folks here i am struggling & out of nowhere, such an awesome guy like Kevin comes along who ive never met, took care of me & again never meeting Kevin, I just got this good vibe from him. LMAO, I gave a stranger who owns a Barber Shop my truck keys (big leap of faith)...but it was worth it!! HAHAHA!In conclusion Kevin, THANK YOU so much man for ur kindness, my lil buddy was happy we all showed up to see him graduate. Highly recommend this place. Went here as a walk-in and got a great haircut, I only had to wait about five-ish minutes or less. I usually only get my hair cut once a year but all I had to do was show a couple pictures of how it used to look and it turned out perfect. I was in the chair for maybe 15-20 minutes total and didn't feel rushed at all. Great experience overall.read more

I went to this Barber shop when I was in College at the recommendation of an ROTC instructor at Pitt (1987ish through 1990). This place "ruined" me (wink) for all other Barbers...Loved the Hot Lather and Straight Razor finish around the Ears and on the Neck which I have not been able to find since (at least consistently). I hope to get back when visiting my Son and Grandson in the Pittsburgh area some day...maybe soon.read more
