Amazing service. I called bc I got locked out of my apartment and was going to miss my appointment and I was all stressed out about it bc they have a disclaimer for missing your appt and charge a fee. But I called using the bodegas phone around the corner from my place and a very nice lady answered and was very understanding she was able to move my appt for a later time but I couldn’t do that until I knew when I could get back into my apt as my phone, car keys and wallet were all in my home. Luckily I was able to get in shortly after. I called back and the lady remembered me and made light of the situation and was glad I was able to get back in as it was very hot out. I never got her name but I do appreciate her understanding and professionalism. Overall I was able to get an appt and wasn’t charged a fee for having to miss my original one. My haircut looks great thanks to Fatjon. Overall if I could give 10 stars I would. Thanks you guys for the great hospitality.read more

April 2024 UPDATE: Tim no longer works here. He’s moved to another barbershop in the neighborhood.-I’ve been going to Jack’s for over a year now and I’ve found it to be the best in the neighborhood. Reached out to the business on google because I was nervous that a woman with hair getting close to a bob might need to find a salon instead. They reassured me that they could cut any hair, and scheduled an appointment for me on the spot. At my appointment Djasur listened to all my concerns and desires for my hair, from losing bulky sections to keeping length and more, and he gave me an extremely-attentive-to-detail scissor cut that I really like. They raised prices recently, but the quality is worth it, and they're still cheaper than most salons I've looked into.read more

First time I came here, the owner took four phone calls during my haircut and rushed to get me done, so I stopped coming, but the other barber I went to moved so I gave this place another shot because the reviews are good.I had Isaac, and I was worried after I tried to explain what I wanted that we weren't on the same page, so I went with, keep the same style I have and trim this much. I had to stop him shortly in because it was clear he still wasn't understanding. I ended up with a haircut I really hate, it's not what I asked for, it's not the style I came in with, and it'll take half a year to grow out enough for me to try and fix it. Leaving 2 stars instead of 1 because I tried to be polite and say it wasn't entirely his fault, and I guess it was clear I was really unhappy and he didn't charge me. I think this is another place where all the barbers are shown how to do one type of haircut and only cut hair a certain way, and ultimately he didn't know how to give me the same style I had, but I rather you tell me that, or ask me more questions instead of giving me a haircut I hate and rushing me out the door for your next appointment.Edit: I just tried to wash it and see if I could style it, and this haircut is awful, it sticks up everywhere because he didn't do what I asked. I feel terrible about how I look right now.read more

I couldn't be more dissatisfied with the experience at this barber shop. I felt like the barber didn't necessarily know what he was doing. He didn't say a word during my entire visit and I would expect a hairdresser to at least give some sort of advice before they cut anything: what is going to look good and what is not, what kind of haircut would suit me best etc. The bottom line is I ended up having a haircut with every single hair sticking out in a different direction and looking like a plume. Not to mention the price for this service which was outrageous. I strongly discourage anyone who plans to pay this barber shop a visit from doing so.read more

I’ve had a few haircuts from Jack’s, some better than others, but the one I got today was a total mess. The barber was new and didn’t understand what I was asking for, which was simply taking some length off while keeping my same style. After a lot of back and forth he eventually started cutting and I could tell he was not understanding what I wanted. I ended up having to talk him through cutting more off than I wanted at the sake of getting a somewhat decent cut. I eventually just had him finish because we just kept taking more off, so I didn’t get to leave with the cut I was hoping for. Not to mention the fact that the price raised $10 recently, so this bad experience felt even worse. It seems like the owner is more concerned about expanding the business and will hire anyone without giving them proper training.Definitely will be going elsewhere for my next haircut.read more

I specifically told my barber what I wanted when I went with my longish hair and what I asked for was completely ignored. Barber decided himself my hair would look better not at the length I wanted and continued to cut even when I said the length looked good several times. I went here once and only once. I got *the worst* haircut of my life here. I've been getting a fade for years so it's not hard to follow the pattern of my hair and yet somehow the barber destroyed my hair. It took 6 months for me to recover from.i had to grow my hair and get it cut 3 times before it looked normal. The cut was choppy, the fade wasn't even and it had a sort of under cut quality in the back. So awful.read more

3rd hair cut here. First one was great! Second was really poor and left me really disappointed. Style was what I asked for, but execution and finish were really poor, leaving me with spikey sides. Third and final visit, it was an entirely different hair cut to what I asked for. Left looking like a jar head after asking for a faded blend and being buzzed all the way to the top. Asked for top to be kept long but was repeatedly trimmed down after agreeing length (likely because they realized they went too short on sides). Really disappointing and day ruiners. I paid full and tipped because I hate complaining and really wish I didn't have to write this but gutted at how bad these cuts were, both right on the Thanksgiving and Xmas holiday.Would avoid if new to the shop or come armed with photos and ask them to take it slow. The first time I went here was pretty good—young Muslim guy took his time and did a good job. The second and last time… Albanian guy cut my hair like he was being timed in squid game and his life depended on finishing in 10minutes. Like he was literally wincing as he cut as if stressed, it was weird. At some point he also pressed down on my shoulders somewhat aggressively and said “can you stay down”… also didn’t even ask me about side burns. felt like I’d just joined the military and was getting my hair cut by a drill sergeant before duty (also what this haircut looks like). not the worst cut I’ve ever gotten, but definitely very far from a $37 haircut (without tip). Lucky for me it’s hat season. Needless to say I won’t be returning here.read more

I took my two boys in for a trim and asked for one inch cut off their long hair. Ray serviced my older son and before I knew it, he had taken off 10 inches and given my son bangs! We were all shocked, and my son is devastated. I still can’t believe this happened. Everyone (John and the other lovely barber who was cutting my other son’s hair) was very apologetic, but the whole situation was lost on Ray and I still don’t know what he was thinking. It was a horrible experience and we will never be back. Not the place to go to with long hair; I should have read the reviews first. Kicking myself now. Absolutely horrible haircut. How can anyone show so much disregard for someone’s very clear wishes, especially a kid?! Shameful. Huge thumbs down.read more

Very nice people very friendly and clean! I asked the barber if he had worked with longer hair and he said yes only to yank on my hair and trim off the ends unevenly. It was clear he had not cut long hair much and I would have been fine if he couldn’t cut long hair and was upfront about it. Ended up paying a bit much for what was just a trim around the neck and ears. That being said all the shorter haircuts looked great so it may not just be a place for longer hair!read more
