Description
This Fellow Barber locations sits at 1149 Broadway and features soapstone countertops, vintage barber chairs from the 1960’s and barber stations handmade with naturally-sourced oak and cherry woods. The 1100 square foot shop design was inspired by 1950’s Italian Modernism. Cork flooring and walnut paneling bring a modern flair. Adjoining the barbershop is Butler Bakeshop serving pastries and coffee. There is also a newsstand carrying magazines and art books curated by Import News. So its not a basic barbershop experience. Fellow Barber also offers a full range of professional quality grooming products for use in the home.

If you go through my profile i do not write reviews very frequently, so writing this review should speak volumes! I came in with my boyfriend the other day so he can get a haircut by Sam and i had to take a minute to give Sam a shout out for the amazing work! He did such a splendid job, left my boyfriend looking so handsome and dapper! Very personable, easy to talk to, and listens to what the client wants. You can tell he has been doing this for a while because his work is just impeccable. Highly recommend Sam, i know from this point forward my boyfriend will only be going to him. Sam’s service and skills were exceptional. If you need a gentleman's cut and a flawless straight razor shave be sure to kindly request his services. I will honestly rework my schedule to ensure I’m in town when I need a haircut. It’s that good. Quality barbers are in short supply and outside of New York almost non-existent. I LOVE the espresso bar. Great concept and equally good brew. I look forward to returning.read more

Just happened to be walking by when I needed a haircut and decided to give this place a try, and boy am I glad I did. Justin's attention to detail was beyond impressive, and he gave me the best haircut that I have ever gotten. My barber Sam was incredible. I shared a photo of what I wanted and it’s exactly what he gave me, all while telling me funny stories. The place is so clean and beautiful. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a good barbershop that does more than just the traditional cut and clean up.read more

The haircut from Daniel was good, I'd only wish for less hairstyle product at the end.From the administrative side though the visit was quite bad. It started with the fact someone took my reserved appointment by mistake. It was resolved quickly though. At the end, administrator asked me if I booked a kids haircut, I answered that I did not. She did not say anything and charged me $50 instead of $35. To my question "why" she replied that I booked a kids haircut so she charges me the fair fee.... I showed her on the site that I booked a haircut with a junior Barber for $35 and it has nothing mentioned about kids. Administrator was quite rude, did not say anything but changed the fee to $35. No "thank you for visit" or "good bye", I made felt unwelcome in this placeread more

I've been going to Fellow Barbershops for many years and on both coasts -- Mission and Market when I lived in San Francisco and then the West Village location when I moved back here to NYC. I was delighted when they opened this NoMad one super close to where I live. The other day I went as a walk in for a quick 15 minute trim. When I went to check out I was shocked that my $45 pre-pandemic cut was now $75 (basically $100 with tip). I thought their whole thing was good cuts at reasonable prices. Surprisingly here's the blurb from their website, in 2006 in NYC "there were two options for haircuts: to make an appointment at a salon and pay $90 and up or to pay a visit to the closest barbershop charging an average of $12 for a limited range of haircut styles and uneven quality. We wanted to provide an elevated and relevant sense of style with our barbering service, with a convenient, walk-in wait list and a $40 price point." I guess it's time they updated their story on their website.read more
