I don't usually leave reviews, but this was my third visit: what fantastic experiences! I've gotten multiple haircuts in the local barbershops, but they didn't give me what I wanted. However, Billy gave me one of the best haircuts I've gotten in a while. Overall, their service is exceptional, very affordable and their talent is unbeatable. Its difficult finding a decent barber who satisfies the consistency, quality, and personable aspects one hopes to find. We are visiting our in-laws here in Staten Island and made a call to Empire Barber Shop NY to see if they did haircuts for an 11 month infant. I appreciated that they were professional and upfront about not promising that they’d be able to do it based on if he moved a lot during the cut. Overall, they were very professional, accommodating, and patient with my baby boy and made our nervous first experience a phenomenal one for beautiful memories down the road. The barbers at Empire are truly excellent at their craft and the experience couldn't be better. The staff are very friendly and make sure that the customer gets the style that he wants. Honestly, I can't say anything bad about this place. Specifically about Tony. Not sure if he's the owner or co-owner. I have a son who is autistic and very sensitive to noise and is stimulated by everything, we were looking for a place that would be accommodating to my sons needs. But Tony is beyond that, sadly we don't live in Staten Island anymore but when we do visit family we make sure that we get our son to Tony. He's not just accommodating and understanding he's also ridiculously fast! My son can only handle so much on a place where stimulation is overwhelming for anyone that's in the spectrum. I’ve lived on Staten Island my whole life and this about the best barbershop I’ve experienced. I usually don’t even book an apt, because whoever I go to does a good job. I went to Billy today (first chair on the right) and he did a phenomenal job. He also recommended me a hair gel which will definitely come in handy. Good cuts, good atmosphere, fair price. Came here after going to another barber for almost a decade, (Michaelangelos. Who retired in 2021-22) Then I was struggling to find a new barber for a while, because last time I went there, they were under new management and the same haircut I always got (albeit done not as good) cost me $10-15 MORE.So I just grew my hair out for over 2 years. Then it became unbearable lol, so I HAD to find a new place. When i was checking the reviews for my old barber (even when they was under old mngmt, and before COVID) there was a negative review for it saying "The barber by Eggers Ice cream was better" which I questioned.So gave Empire barber a chance, asked for a Mullet Haircut (dont judge me lol) and the barber there did a fantastic job IMO. Best part was It didn't even cost me much! Including the tip. I'm still getting complements by people on the street. Will definitely be coming back!read more
