This shop has been a consistent fixture in the community for a while, now in its 4th generation of ownership. At Olde Tyme Barbers NYC you get a mix of old time traditional service with extra touches like a post-shave moisturizer rub, scented hot towels, and a bay rum-aroma aftershave. You'll even have the option of getting an ole-fashioned shoeshine while you are there. My barber was out on vacation so I decided to give this place a shot. What a great place, can't say enough about Noel, great barber. He doesn't rush at all, super detailed in cutting and very cool to talk to. I made an appointment early in the morning, came in during lunch was out within 40 mins. All the other barbers seemed laid back. Great atmosphere will definitely be back for another haircut. Just an FYI it's a little pricier than the outer boroughs, but worth it.read more

This is great. Reserve online - they book up and walk-ins are welcome but often can't be accommodated (especially in those after work hours). Very friendly staff, good cuts, v. reasonable rates in NYC.read more

My regular barber at home has been out with a medical issue for a while, was going to the city and needed a haircut - read good reviews and heard good things about Mike - they were all true. Made an appointment, he was right on time and did a great job. Paid attention to all the little details and the price was very reasonable. If I ever need to to get another haircut in the city would definitely see him again and recommend anyone in need of a quality cut to see him.read more

Honestly the best barber I've ever been too. I went with Mike for a scissor cut and he really did a great job and made some great suggestions. Took his time to make sure he double checked every detail but still got me in and out in around 30 min, laid back yet professional, and he clearly knew what he was doing. The other barbers looked very competent as well. Apparently they've been in business for ~90 years, so you know they're doing something right. Make a reservation online or they might not be able to take you.read more

They cut my boyfriends hair on Monday. It’s a very good cut. Service is a bit questionable and they weren’t wearing masks the entire time but you get what you pay for. Will return, thicker mask next time. He would be willing to pay more if they made some updates and had a specific COVID response planread more

The Best! I am the most socially distant person one can virtually meet these days. I work from home and only leave my apartment to get my hair cut and get groceries. I was so pleased when I entered to see everyone complying with the new Covid rules, wearing masks and sanitizing. I felt just as safe as if I was at home and want to thank everyone for being so understanding and helpful during these times! A lovely woman named Anne Marie I think cut my hair and I am so happy with it!read more

This has been my home for haircuts for about 6 years. I have gotten to know everyone there over the years and have never had a bad haircut (don't screw it up now Fred and Eric). The staff takes pride in their profession and are always trying to improve.How did I start going to Old Tyme you ask?? Well, you didn't but I'm going to tell you. There I was in need of a haircut last minute (because I am bad at planning), walked in, and got Christine. I asked for my standard buzz cut to wich she replied "ABSOLUTELY NOT" and then proceeded to tell me how I should grow my hair out and cut it so and so. Cristine has since moved on but that level of sevice and commitment so that their clients to not look like fools has kept me there for 6 years.They take walk-ins but an appointment will be better. This place is priced well for the service you get. Hot lather neck shave and hot towel treament are standard services to every cut. If you are looking for a cheap $17 cut this isnt your place unless you want your world rocked. It'll spoil you and you wont be able to go back to your old place.read more

Out of towner that needed a quality cut near grand central. Looked up spots and the reviews for OTB were great. Gave Eric a run for a haircut and beard trim and he did a fantastic job, better than any haircut I have gotten in Minneapolis the past 3 years. Very meticulous . Would highly recommend. I may start scheduling my business trips to the city every 4 weeks so I can keep having Eric cut my hair.read more

I found this barber shop a couple years ago and had the honor of working with Fred for my first haircut at this establishment. Fred is an amazing individual that truly understands his craft and I can only speak highly of his work. The shop is welcoming, pleasant, and every barber works with their client to find the best style for them. While I've never had my hair done by Eric, he is a cordial and polite individual that helps establish the relaxing nature of the shop. As long as I am in NYC, I will continue coming here. Pricing is fair for midtown Manhattan and you are truly working with expert barbers.read more

Great experience coming here ever since a friend from college recommended.
