Description
Michael's Silver Scissors is a casual and friendly environment that is very welcoming to new customers. They do take walk-ins, but making an appointment is usually better due to demand. They'll give you a nice hair wash and shampoo before your cut. You can get a solid layering effect or some new color if you want.

I got a great haircut and had great conversation throughout my appointment! Plus clippers the dog is so sweet :) the price can't be beat for the quality of the cut and experience here.

First time there. The staff is super friendly (had my hair cut with Mikaela). The haircut was as I wanted. Want to also highlight that they wash your hair before starting (believe me that not all places do that) and you can also pay by debit or credit card. Walk-in is welcomed there.read more

I've known Rob Replogle since I was in grade school and my mom would take me and my brother to him for haircuts. I am now 34 years old and still get my haircuts from Rob. He is friendly, reliable, accommodating and willing to go above and beyond to make sure you're happy with your haircut. I highly recommend him if you need a great haircut at a more than fair price point.read more

I really can't recommend this place highly enough. Not only have I never left with a bad haircut, Michael genuinely cares about anyone who walks in the doors. I've only been in there 4 times, but he's remembered my job, my major, and a lot of really minute things about me. I was Michael's customer for almost four years? It has been so long and I cannot even remember. Being an Asian, it was very difficult to find a place to get a hair cut. I am very sensitive about my hair because I style my hair daily (wax, hair spray, curl, straightener, etc) and cannot risk that. I still remember the first day that I got a service from Michael and I was just amazed at how skilled he is at cutting Asian hair. Since then, this was my go-to place and have never went anywhere else. I would give this place 100 stars if I could. I was hoping to visit one last time before my graduation but sadly I was not able to. Lastly, I just want to thank you Michael for all those years of providing phenomenal service. I have been to a few different places in town for haircuts and each of them were mediocre at best. Michael's Silver Scissors was 10 times better. I had Michael give me a cut and it was extremely professional. He really takes the time to know what cut and style you are looking for.read more

I was nervous to try a new place but trusted the reviews I saw online of Michael. So glad I did! He gave my curls a great dry cut, listened to what I wanted and gave his own suggestions, and also offered to fix my cut afterward if it wasn’t what I liked. I've been going to Michael for a few years now and I've always been happy with the haircuts I have received. One of the things I appreciate most is that he takes notes in his computer about how he's cut my hair in the past and he goes back and reviews what he's done prior to the start of my next appointment. This takes a lot of the guesswork out and in my experience has produced a great consistency over time. He's open to switching things up, but I can easily say, "same as usual" and I know what I'm going to end up with.read more

I really enjoyed going to Michael to get my haircut. He is very professional always asking if each cut is what you wanted and telling you if something might look bad if shorter or longer etc… The building is always clean and he is always on time. He writes every cut length down so that he is consistent to what you like each time you come in. I never had a hair style until I visited him for a fade. Have to say I recommend him for anyone in the State College area, coming from a PSU student. I’m sad I had to leave the area because it was always a good cut!read more

I had a scheduling conflict when I origionally arrived there. Michael called me and had me come back to squeeze me in. He did an excellent job and I would recommend using him fo the future. He smoothed over the issue I was having with scheduling and, as stated, did an excellent job with my hair. The fade is perfect, and he did it fast. I would recommend Michael.read more

Would highly recommend! For my first time there, I didn't know what to expect, but they did an amazing job! My hair was cut by Rachael so don't feel like you need to have yours cut by Mike. She was extremely helpful in analyzing my hair and actually describing why she was doing each cut. She even recorded all of the different lengths of my hair so that she would know exactly how to cut it next time. Made me feel like I got scammed at all of the places I've had my hair cut before. Never going anywhere else again! I did a ton of research and this place had the best reviews, pricing, and knowledge of how to cut Asian hair. Michael is absolutely a master of his craft; he knew just what to do and has a ton of experience with Asian hair. He was able to tell me my exact hair type. He commits to learning how each person’s hair works, and encouraged me to come straight back if anything was wrong or if I didn’t like something about the haircut. Great banter, great guy. Also, Rob and Rachel are fantastic too— my friends got their hair cut by them and both couldn’t be happier with the end results. Rob actually helped my friend do some networking, and he says he’s never going to a different barber again, just like me. Overall a 10/10, a total gem of a place.read more
