The barbers at McGuinn’s Barber Shop are talented in modern and traditional haircuts. They cut all hair types. In addition to street parking, a public parking lot is located behind the businesses across the street from McGuinn's Barbershop. It can be accessed from Phillips Avenue.

Great group of friendly barbers that give precision hair cuts. I’ve more recently used Curtis. Good attention to detail. The waiting area could be a bit more welcoming with some comfortable seating, however most people seem to head for the sofa and chair in the back. I've been taking my son to McGuinn's for the last year or so (he's 2 1/2). Ken takes his time with him, makes sure my little guy is comfortable, and doesn't rush anything.When my son gets distracted and turns to look at whatever caught his attention, Ken just moves to the next area of his head and keeps on going. He doesn't get upset or stressed, which makes my son more relaxed and helps him enjoy the haircut.A lot of our friends' kids go elsewhere and we hear about the screaming and fighting that happens at other corporate shops. But we've never had that issue with Ken or his team, and my son enjoys himself so much, he doesn't want to leave when he's done!read more

Let me start off by saying I got a very nice haircut, and a really nice beard trim. My stylist paid attention to my requests, and gave me exactly what I wanted. so from a product standpoint, I really liked McGuinn's.The negative side of my review is that I don't like the kind of music that was playing. Misogynistic gangster rap is not my cup of tea. Also, I'm used to barber shops which are a little bit more "talky". I enjoy conversation, and McGuinns felt very silent (other than the initial requests and the music I don't like). So from an ambience standpoint, it wasn't quite what I was looking for.So if what matters most to you is the quality of the haircut, this is a great place. If ambience fits in with your evaluation, then it depends entirely on your personal tastes.read more

I always go to Curtis. So not sure about the rest, but everyone else's customers seem happy too. I never know how to communicate what I want done to my hair, but Curtis always somehow figures it out and Im always very pleased. More importantly, the wife likes it. He doesn't keep pressing me when I don't talk, so I really enjoy that too. I'm here to get a cut, not tell you my life story and political views. He takes the hint and just cuts my hair.read more

I've had Ken cut my hair a few times since I moved into the neighborhood. I'm one of those people that usually hates going to the barber and have a half hour conversation, but I've always had a great time talking with Ken and I'm surprised the time flies so fast. This is probably the only barber I've ever experienced that with.Also, he always does a great job with the cut. I usually do a pretty basic men's cut, but some other barbers manage to mess it up. After the first time I never needed to explain what I wanted again, he just asked if I wanted anything different and to remind him how long I wanted the sides.On one of my first cuts (before the pandemic,) I came in for a really quick trim and he worked so fast that he didn't even charge me. I got a cut during the pandemic and he realized I was fairly broke due to my industry being shut down (I work in concerts) and he refused to charge me again. He's a really great dude in addition to being a really great barber. I highly recommend him.read more

06/19/20 Update: Ken and his staff are still running an excellent, top tier barbershop. His cuts are my gold standard for quality.Additionally, his Coronavirus preparations and precautions are extensive. The new experience is both comforting and comfortable despite the current challenges due to the pandemic. I’m still in love with this gem of a shop!I also always look forward to my haircuts because it’s fun. Ken makes excellent conversation.From original review:Great cuts, great people, and great value. Ken and his barbers are awesome!If you walk in without making an appointment and get turned away because they are booked up, don’t get discouraged. Just go to their website and book a cut. This is a sign of good service at a barber. Other haircut shops (esp. chains) run a volume business where “squeezing you in” is better business because they can get more cuts in in a day and more $$$$; but they sacrifice the time and attention to your cut and you end up with a rush job and a bad haircut. If you book at McGuinn’s you get the full time slot and attention you need to get a stellar cut. Worth it!!read more

Ken is the best! I came in for my third haircut in 2 weeks. Ken could tell this was a repair job. He took the time to assess and fix my hair. Which was not easy as it was uneven in so many different places. The beard trim was very close with perfect lines and edges and not a single cut on me! Zero pain! Had an appointment with Ken, he was running behind on appointments (totally understandable, no issues with this) so I ultimately got my cut/beard trim from Braden. He was really kind and attentive, he listened to what I wanted and started cutting. I struggled finding a barber who routinely knocked it out of the park month over month until I came to McGuinn's. I’ve been going to a barbershop in Dormont for years now but I haven’t lived in that area for a while so it started to become a bit of an inconvenience getting out there from Squirrel Hill. I recently got a bad haircut and needed a place to fix up my cut and ultimately decided to check out McGuinn's after hearing nothing but good things from friends and family. I booked a cut with Brayden and he was chill and knew exactly what he was doing. I came in, told him what I wanted and he kindly gave me a suggestion on how to fix the bad cut I had.
