Matthew's career began at the young age of 15, where he was trained by some of the top educators in Europe. There, his skills and techniques were recognized. Coming to NYC, Matthew gained the opportunity to further expand his skillset together with other masters of the craft. He specializes in mens cuts, dry cuts, razor cuts, scissor cuts, and keratin treatments. Having been located in some of the world's foremost cultural hubs, Matthew has worked on popular actors, opera singers, dancers, and musicians from all around the world. As there are no teen perspectives, I figured I’d offer my own. Matthew is a phenomenal hair stylist, with a cutting technique that I’ve yet to see elsewhere. Although traditional barbers are the default option, I found myself never getting the cut I asked for and envisioned. With Matthew, I’ve yet to get a bad cut. He is leaps and bounds more trust-worthy and consistent than any barber. When he says this salon is for both men and boys, he means it. His ability does not change based on age. My entire life I’ve been getting my hair cut from the local barber and never really put too much thought into it. But about a year ago I met Mathew and he told me he was a stylist and with my hair type he can do some pretty cool things. So I gave it a try. It was a totally different experience then what I was accustomed to. He is like an artist of hair! I was amazed , and my wife was very happy too. She loved my new hair style. Matt is the man. Been using him for 4 years now. There is no cookie cutter hair cut with him. He helps you customize your cut to your hair type, texture etc. He won’t let you do a hair style that is not meant for you. I love that. Who else does that these days? My hair takes someone with great experience and patience to tame and style and Matt-OZ is that guy! He has been my hair guy for the past 3 years and is the best! First time going to a men’s salon (as there aren’t many nearby), and was not disappointed! I spoke to Matthew about what I dislike about my hair and also what look I wanted for my wedding day, and he took the time to explain and recommend different options and ultimately gave me the perfect haircut. Matthew Alain Men’s Hair Lounge is AMAZING! I have gone to so many hair salons/barbers in the area. Some were terrible and others were just okay. I just brought my son to Matthew Alain’s for a cut, and can honestly say it’s the best cut ever and far exceeded my expectations! After going to Matthew Alain, I realized just how much of a difference there is between getting a hair cut by someone who cuts hair, versus going to a talented and skilled hair stylist who knows hair, trends, and style. I loved the work on my hair so much the first time and have now been here a second time. Matthew does a phenomenal job...with everything! My cut looks awesome! But beyond that I've had him color my hair and also got a keratin treatment. He did an amazing job. I also want to thank him for squeezing in an extra treatment and being accommodating. He now cuts my son's hair too and did a great job on his as well!!read more

Matthew’s barbershop is extremely well kept and a lovely place to have your hair taken care of. He is always hospitable as he offers me coffee every cut. I have yet to get a cut I did not like and get compliments on the styling often. He will work with you to make your hair as you wish- A stylist vs a barber is night and day.
