Description
Hills Barber Shop specialize in traditional, classical, and up to date hairstyles. They can also do hot towel straight razor shaves. There's nice background music and music videos on the TV while you wait. Plenty of seats inside and a bench outside in case there's a long wait. Haircuts are $20 for walk-ins, and $25 for appointments. Although walk-ins are welcome, appointments are highly recommended.

Great hair cut. They are professional.Have your preference picture and they will make it happen. They might be a little cautious to make too short but you can ask them to go for more. Enrique is an excellent barber, great with the scissors. He takes just the right amount of time on my haircut. Never feel rush nor do I feel my time is being wasted. I normally get a skin fade and a trim on top. I've been to places where a fade can use up a whole hour(that's too much time for me). Simple, quick place to get your haircuts. You can set an appointment with a specific barber 2 weeks in advance. Men's hair cut is 27$ + 5$ if you want a fade. I've tried four of the barbers and ended up sticking with Ahmed. In my opinion he's the best at fades and takes his time.read more

I've been a loyal customer at this barbershop for over 8 years. Recently, I scheduled an appointment for a Saturday. When I arrived, one of the owners (short one) informed me that another customer, who had come in, would be served first. Despite explaining that I had an appointment, he simply said, 'these things happen.' Disappointed, I left and found another barber that day since I had an important event to attend.Two later, I scheduled another appointment at hills barbershop. Upon arrival, the same owner told me that I was no longer welcome and should continue going to the other barber. I tried to explain the situation, but he wouldn't listen. This whole thing could’ve been avoided if he was professional and knew how to serve his loyal customers.It's unfortunate that they lost a loyal customer after so many years of coming to this shop.read more

Beware of this place. I went in for an appointment with Alex only to be told that he had canceled all his appointments. I wasn't given any notification of this. They said they had someone else available so I went with them instead.I tried to explain what I wanted to him, but he didn't seem interested in how I wanted things styled. I asked him about products to help with my limp hair but he didn't answer me. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and it came out completely different! The picture I showed him had bangs and he gave me a center part!On top of this this as he was doing the back of my head, a coworker came over to him and they began muttering in Arabic with each other and laughing. I tried to think nothing of it, but when I got home I realized why they were laughing: He had completely covered the back of my neck in razor cuts. You can see for yourself in the picture.I was hoping this place would be great due to the positive reviews, but I was wrong. I intentionally allowed my hair to grow for a specific cut.Upon entering I was greeted , I wanted to show the elderly haircutter with glasses a photo of what I wanted. He said " just tell me,I'll understand" I said " I didn't say that you wouldn't understand.Well. He was passive aggressive and gave me the VERY worst haircut that I have had in 57 years.Way to short ( I had to say enough)He didn't know how to blend what he already damaged. He kept saying look at the back! I don't walk backwards!He said " I've been cutting hair for 30 years" well , I have been getting mine cut for 57 and this is the worst. I look like an egghead.He doesn't have one creative bone in his body. After 30 years in the business, he has not grown in his profession.Time to retire your 30 years!Don't let him near your hair.Awful!!!!I'm normally a very generous tipper. Don’t go here. I was there on Saturday morning I asked the barber to only use scissors and trim my beard just a little. He proceeded to use the machine and take off half my beard. Then he proceeded to line me up with a machine.The entire haircut took about 8 mins.Take your time we are paying money for services, I had to go to another barber who made it right and lined up my beard the way it should be lined up.read more

Don't play around with your haircuts. I was halfway through a cut at a different shop and the guy was bushwhacking, so I walked out of the chair. Tried to fix it myself but that wasn't working. I walked into Hills Barbershop at 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon and told them it was an emergency. Miraculously, they had a chair open and told me that they would make me look official. This was the truth. David started working his magic and within a half hour I had the hair of a movie star. I've been looking for a barber for over 6 months now and the search is over. I took my 2 year old son to this barbershop for his first haircut and had a great experience. I wasn't able to ask his name but the barber was friendly and patient with my son, and kept him entertained during the cut. Even though the barber had hurt his finger, he still finished the job and assured us it always happens but my husband still felt bad that he injured his finger. He really did a great job. I haven’t been to this place since 2019. A lot of new barbers. I had my haircut done by Erick for the first time , I showed him a picture and he tried his best to mimic it. And he surpassed my expectations. I really like my haircut . His method of cutting hair is like writing an essay . Best barbershop in the area! The barbers are very good and do an amazing job keeping their appointments to the exact minute, which is a welcome change from other shops i have patronized in the past. First of all very busy place. About 5-6 barbers working. I was a walk in and waited about 10 mins, I consider that very good. They do take appointments and I would recommend it. I've been going through a few different barbers for a bunch of reasons. I won't criticize their competition but I will compliment hills by saying: it didn't smell like weed or other substance, the world cup was on and not politics, very polite and welcoming atmosphere, extremely clean considering the interior is a light color. Parking is tight because it is Austin street but if you get there early you'll be fine. Enrique cut my hair. He asked questions and got a good idea of what style I wanted. He cuts quick yet is patient and efficient. The style is similar to what I'm used to but it is a cleaner and fresher cut. Like the other barbers, He is definitely focused on his craft. I'm going to get a few more haircuts before I decide on a 5. I am planning on going there for the next 3-5 cuts. I do like the place and highly recommend itread more

Long overdue review. Hills Barbershop has to be the best thing to come to Forest Hills since lox and cream cheese on a bagel. The barbers are professional and accommodating. I've cycled through 5 different barbers at the joint, and each time I'm thoroughly impressed by the quality of the haircut. You have to remember haircutting is an art. Each artist has their own twist to what you ask - they're the professionals after all! It's not about asking for the haircut, it's their job to make the haircut work for you - by analyzing your hair texture, volume, and shape of head. After having the same barber for over 3 years, I moved to the Forest Hills area and tried out Hills Barbershop. I called ahead and Alex took me as soon as he had a slot. I showed Alex a picture and he absolutely delivered - skin fade and beard shape up were both very clean and professionally done. For future appointment's Alex recommended himself and Lev for my type of haircut and beard so I gave it a go with Lev my second time since Alex was booked. Again, Hills Barbershop delivered! Lev did a great job, was very friendly, easy to talk to, provided helpful recommendations etc. I highly recommend both Alex and Lev based on my experience, both did an exceptional job.Rating 4 stars because I made an appointment online which charges an additional $5 but I still had to wait an additional ~25-30 min after my appointment time even though I was early. The haircut was definitely worth the wait but wish the appointment time was better accommodated.read more

And you never have to wait long because they always have so many barbers on deck waiting. It's absolutely amazing. And it's conveniently located on Austin Street so I walk here from my apartment every time I need a cut and when it's raining it's right next to the subway so it's just as easy. This is one of the last real barber shops in the neighborhood. They take their time, are observant, and pay attention to every detail.
