Hair Mechanix in Shelby Township, MI is a fun, MALE-friendly place where men get what they deserve. Built by guys for guys and powered by better girls. The attentive and talented staff offer all current and vintage hairstyles. The barber shop is lined with big screen TV's and photos covering the walls, along with rock music on the speakers. Also, you can sit back and relax with a complimentary beer. Each haircut includes a wash and hot towel neck shave. Hair color and waxing services are available as well. I am new to Shelby township and had a barber in Detroit for 5 years. I have engagement photos in two days so I went to a haircut place right down the street from this place and they messed up my hair very very bad. I was able to come here immediately after and Melanie worked a miracle to get my hair looking how it should be. I got right in and they treated me as if I had been going to them for years. Holly is my girl, she takes good care of me. I've had other girls over the years and they all were good. I love the neck shave and hot towel on the face while my hair gets washed. I always make an appointment 6 weeks out and have never had to wait more than a few minutes beyond my appointment time. They're always friendly and courteous.read more

I have been coming to this location for about two years and I absolutely love it. The staff at this location is top notch. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted, signed in and are always offered a beverage.I would love to shout out Katie. She is absolutely wonderful and knows how to make you look your best. The moment you sit in her chair, you are taken off and you leave looking your best.I do not trust anyone to cut my hair but Katie, she’s your girl. I was first introduced to Hair Mechanix in 2021. I am so happy to have found such friendly folks that are highly skilled in their craft. Holly in particular has been absolutely amazing. She does her job exceptionally and goes above and beyond it. She is highly professional and makes the person in chair feel super comfortable. As someone that travels a lot for work, I have to get my hair cut at the places that I am visiting. However, I try to make sure that I can get an appointment with Holly as she has helped me with my hair and beard. She has always been a great resource to get ideas about what would or would not suit the look that I am trying to achieve. I'm a regular. The place is clean, well maintained and managed. Amenities are very welcomed like cold water and optional personal TV.Rita is the gold standard though. I go out of my way to visit this location just because of her and she always goes the extra mile to make sure I walk out looking and feeling 1000x better than when I came in. Scalp massage is highly recommended and helps with headaches and stress.She is a master at what she does and I never got compliments on my hair until I started going to her.read more

Respectfully got a pretty bad haircut from lance. He is a nice guy, but just felt he didn’t know what to do with longer curlier hair. Left my hair longer on one side than the other. Ended up going to a different place to get help. Good environment very clean and kind but just didn’t get a good cut.read more

Went twice, first haircut and beard trim was good no complaints. Second time I went made appointment online the guy that did my haircut did not even check what I scheduled online for, I am not sure what went wrong in the communication but not impressed with a appointment scheduling that is not used. The hair cut was ok, but the whole time I was in the chair he asked what I did for work then asked questions which is common for me. My problem was the conversation was a ever other word f this and s that, just not professional, or appropriate . If was a parent of a young child within earshot I would have probably left. I asked for a beard reshaping and a haircut.
The beard job was terrible. The sides weren’t lined up. The stylist cut my beard unevenly. It’s a hot mess. I’m going to pay another barber to correct it.
Then she spent precisely 3 minutes on my haircut. It was a “non-job”.
The experience cost me 45$ and then the stylist expected a tip. She literally held only the card reader until I’d entered something — watching that I put in a tip. Very very rude.
Net / net – I left the shop with a trashed beard and basically no haircut… I would NOT recommend using this shop.
