Description

The Blind Barber in Philadelphia offers a unique combination of old-school barber shop and speakeasy cocktail bar. Initially it appears to be a swanky retro barber shop, but in the back there is a hidden lounge, with velvet booths, floral wallpaper, and dim lighting. And of course, drinks. The haircuts are on the more expensive end, but you get a complementary cocktail, not just some beer, to sip on during your cut. If this type of atmosphere intrigues you, then Blind Barber is the place you are looking for.

I just got my haircut here, hands down one of the best haircut experiences of my life. Price of haircut is $55 but includes complimentary drink (not just Bud Light, I got a high end whiskey on the rocks included with the cut) and the attached bar and overall experience is first- class. Haircut itself was extremely well done as the barber even educated me on what he was doing and how to take care of the hair. Worth the money.read more

Owner is new to the city and a very genuine person. The best experience I've had stepping into a new barbershop. You're welcomed like a regular and it's an environment you just want to hang out in. Incredible cut it's obvious why these barbershops are in cities around the country. They're a step above most.read more

Omg love the vibe !! I love the whole “speak easy” theme! We went for the burlesque show on the first Thursday and it was top notch experience !!The only issue we had was the waitress was horrible! She bypassed us about 4 times. We ended up merging with another table and they complained as well that they waited 30 minutes for service. It was only until we physically stood up and yelled for her she paid us any attention... and we are very good friends with one of the burlesque dancers so I think she noticed and came running. Terrible TERRIBLE cocktail waitress. Besides that the place is awesomeread more

This is one of the most professional barber shops I’ve been too. It’s not just a haircut, it’s an experience. What’s great is the barbers here work with you to really customize your haircut to your head shape, hair type and the style you’re looking to get. The best part for me has been how good they’ve been about masks during covid. They only have 1 customer in the entire shop at a time, both the barber and the customer have proper masks (above their noses/mouths).read more

I was really excited for this place because I love craft cocktails. The ambience is great, entering through the barbershop is fun, but the cocktails are really nothing special. I tried 4 different cocktails (my friends and I all got different ones) and every one of them was just bland. Not bad, I just expect a lot better from a speak easy themed bar and at that price point. If your just going in to get a beer then I’m sure it’s 5 stars lol.read more

Blind Barber is a really top-notch service that really gives barber shops a good name. Their main haircut package is on the expensive side, but includes a drink (alcoholic or not) in the price. If you don’t want the drink, the price is the same, so I wouldn’t suggest going here if you care about the value of your dollar for a haircut only.In any case, the barber’s are lovely and the haircut I got was great!read more

The male dj was a bit messy with the song selection. It felt more like a concert than a dance bar. The woman dj was far better. Idk why this man was chosen. He also wouldn't take recommendations and instead play very lame songs with some background dance music. It was not a good experience. I usually come for the music since the drinks are trash, but this was a bad experience. Idk if I'll come back 😔read more

Decent spot. The gimmick of entering through the barber shop is a fun thing. Might try to take someone here who didn't know it was a bar, since it would make for a good surprise. They really shouldn't have seats all around both bars when they're busy. Visited on Friday night. The entrance through the back of the barbershop was really cool. Sat upstairs and the space has the feel of a dimly lit 70's basement. There are small seating areas for groups of 2-3 as well a few larger tables. The music is very loud. Service is poor. It took us a long time to track down our waitress to order our drinks. The drinks themselves were just average. Though the feel was very authentically "speakeasy," the drinks and service were not worth it. Would probably not visit again.read more

I absolutely love this place!!! On my i wedding day, i wanted to take my groomsmen to get a good shave and i needed a haircut and shave desperately, i put it off a couple months leading up to the wedding. I wanted a fresh looking cut, different than what ive gotten for the last 10 years which have always been great, just wanted different. From the start of the booking process with romy who was very nice, she made it very accommodating and super simple, in which i only booked a week in advance. Alex cut my hair and trimmed and shaped my beard and i can say expectations were exceeded!! For someone never cutting my hair which is tough, he was amazing!! My groomsmen all absolutely loved their shaves. The atmosphere was amazing and the drinks were also good and a great bonus to the experience. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone.read more

I really love the aesthetic of this bar. If you were walking past this bar on the street, you would not realize what it was if not for the small barber pole outside. The secret speakeasy inside is warm and inviting with the lighting choices. It was not too packed either. The drinks were about $15 each and kind of small but they certainly packed a punch. We got vodka lemonades, but however the bartender was making them made them not your typical drink. The music choices were also great and the crowd was into it.I would definitely come back here as a place to start my night as it is a little bit more low-key than some of the other bars in philly.read more

Always enjoy bringing friends here and their initial confusion, followed by joy. Very obscure and usually not too busy. No real need to book a table in my mind unless you are staying for the night. Finally got to check this place out on a random late Sunday evening after many attempts/always long lines. Well the lines must be the kids who just want one drink and a photo for the gram à la Tinsel as this reminded me of the ill fated Vesper club with it's cheesy 'speakeasy' decor and a promise of great crafted cocktails that never delivered. The drinks/offerings are quite limited as is the actual bar itself. Case in point, no garnishes/citrus/cherries, I probably rattled off 15 classic cocktails they couldn't make because they were missing basic ingredients or didn't know how... and then in desperation when I saw a drink on the menu that had Lillet Blanc I asked for a spritz with it and the bartender apologized profusely that everything is already pre-batched and they don't even have Lillet on site. I was VERY confused, I've had better drinks and selection of spirits at a local watering hole, save your $$ and go elsewhere because this place ain't it.read more

I really liked this place! The decor is cute (bookshelves and neon lights), and the front entrance is a barber setup with comfortable seats! In the club there are comfortable seats if you want to chill, or you can dance on the small dance floor. Unfortunately, Blind Barber (the barbershop, not the bar) seems to be in a rough patch. I first went there when they opened in Philly and it was nice place, haircuts were a little more expensive but not crazy but you had a nice experience.Went again after some time off and it just wasn’t what it was. The shop seems to be in disrepair in a few places, staff were nice but just seemed uninterested. The amount of money you pay, I would expect more that just “we give you a cocktail!”. The cut was fine but felt like it was rushed. I don’t think I would go back.read more

Great speakeasy spot in Philly. There are barber chairs you can take pics in when you first come in but you’ll have to “take your pic and dip” 😭 lol the staff was fun and friendly. When you first walk in (past the barber chairs), there is a small bar area with one or two tall tables for you to stand/drink at. If you go upstairs, though, there’s much more space and way more people. There’s a dance floor, another (bigger) bar with more seating and space. I went to this place last week with my friend. We were looking for a new place to go dancing, so we walked around downtown and stumbled upon this speakeasy. It was my first time at a speakeasy, and it was really cool to see how the barbershop transformed into a clubby vibe area just by going behind one door. Based on my experience, I might come back, but I'm not too sure. I will say this place is great, depending on the kind of vibe you're into. The crowd was diverse, with people ranging from their 20s to probably in their 50s.The dance floor was quite small and got crowded quickly, so if you're not a fan of tight spaces, this may not be the place for you. Also, the area didn't have many fans, and the fans they had were small, so it got really hot and sweaty very quickly. The people were literally sticking together because of the sweat, and it was gross. However, if you didn't feel like being on the dance floor, there was a bar and lounge area to explore. Overall, the people were friendly, and the music was good. The DJ played a mix of music from the 90s and some current hits, so there was something for everyone. It's a spot to check out, especially if you're into 90s and diverse music selections and want to experience a speakeasy. I recommend bringing a small fan next time to enhance the overall experience, as it got really hot and smelly due to the lack of ventilation.read more
