Bernie's Barber Shop has been a staple haircut destination in ocean city for over 50 years. Whether you are in town on vacation or a local, Bernie's Barber Shop may be worth checking out. An old fashioned barbershop specializing in clipper and scissor cutting, along with straight razor/hot towel shaves. The barbers are easy to talk to and can crack some jokes with you.

Great shop. I always use Ashley and have for about 4 years. It's definitely pricier than your typical barber shop or Hair Cuttery but you get what you pay for. I get consistently great haircuts. Staff is friendly and new appointment reminder system is really convenient. Not much of a walk-in joint so be sure to make an appointment. The owner Mark is a great guy and always has a rediculously funny story or anecdote. I look forward to coming each month.read more

I was going to Bernie's for a few year's and stopped going just because of work and shaving my own head. Started taking my 3 year old son over for the first time today and let me tell you Marc was amazing and his staff as well. They put frozen on the TV for him and went to town. His hair came out amazing no lines, all blended and really worked with him. He has really thin hair and he asked me what I wanted, gave him a very vague answer and told him whatever you think. Would highly highly recommend Bernie's to anyone young or old!!!read more

My son wanted to get a fade for the first time, and this place came up on a google search. Even though we had been by it a thousand times, I hadn't realized it was right there on Asbury. Our appointment was with Marc the owner. The interior was very cute, and definitely had a manly quality barbershop feel, with beautiful vintage chairs, but paired with very attractive wood wall, decor, and music/entertainment. There were corrugated metal and wood barriers between the chairs, much more attractive than the nasty saran wrap or plexiglass you see in many places, but still providing a barrier. They were very professional, and clearly were comfortable with what they were doing. Everyone was very friendly. I would strongly recommend.read more

By far the best breads! Huge selection! We have been visiting ocnj for 18 years and everytime we stop here at least 3 times in our 1 week stay. Absolutely love it! There are barbers and then there are wanna be barbers. Sure anyone with experience can give a half decent haircut but I left there with an uneven beard trim and awkwardly cut top. Cut wasn't super clean like a real professional barber for 40.00. Expensive cut for 20 dollar haircut quality. Sure friendly environment and maybe I just didn't get the attention they would someone else because I'm not a regular.read more

I just gave this place a shot today. Didn’t have a chance to get a haircut before vacation. I’m about to drive out here to get my haircut every time now. Place had a great look to it. All the guys were crazy friendly. Had some good laughs. I also had no appointment and just walked in. The guy was just about to eat for the first time all day, but skipped it and took me anyway. Very good Barber Shop but don’t be late. Lost my appointment even though i called to be 10 minutes late and was in transit running into a road accident that put me 1/2 way on an 18 mile commute. Business did’nt seem to care because it was getting toward the end of the day. Did not attempt to set me up with another barber to accommodate me….very disappointing, not cool.read more

I just moved to the area not very long ago. I have gone here every month for my hair cut. Honestly I've hady cut done by a few different people there and every time I've had a great cut each time. They're very professional, polite, and take the time to ensure you get exactly what you want. I would highly recommend this establishment! I am there every 3 weeks for a cut. Bernie's is a busy place need an appointment but they will do thier best to accommodate you if you walk in. Parking is problem especially in summer Asbury Ave. is a busy street. Laura is the best.read more

Needed a cut ASAP for a funeral tomorrow. They were able to see me on short notice when no one else would. I'm terribly shy and get anxious about small talk, but I was able to get a cut in silence.Ashley (hope I'm spelling that right), absolutely killed it. I got exactly what I asked for and better executed than places that charge $80 for a haircut. I don't think I've looked this good in years. Others may think it's a lot for a cut, but the attention to detail shines in the final result!Even though going over the ninth street bridge is going to suck in the summer I'm going to make an effort to make Bernie's my go-to shop from now on!read more
