Best place around for a haircut, shave, and hair products. It's always clean, staff are always friendly, and you're always treated like a person not a dollar sign. About eight years ago, I wandered into American Shave based on website reviews and was greeted by Jesus. He was polite, professional, very skilled, and very personable and has continued to make me feel comfortable and welcomed (and well-groomed) for all these years, despite the fact that at age 73, I'm not the typical client in this upbeat, modern, masculine, friendly place. Everyone seems happy, congenial, and proud of their work, which says something positive about management. I'm moving out of state and will definitely miss American Shave and Jesus.read more

It is a great and comfortable place, the barbers are very friendly. I left my beard long for about 6 months and it was the first time I went to a barbershop with my beard and mustache so long, Luis, my barber helped me very well! The only uncomfortable thing was the lady at the front desk with a very bad character and bad attention. It seemed like she didn't want to be there. Anyway, my beard turned out great.read more

Personally I don’t get my haircut at American Shave but all my grandsons and son-in-law will not go anywhere else. Frankly they always get great haircuts. American Shave is by appointment and at most you might have to wait a couple of minutes for your favorite barber to finish up with his current client.read more

I met the owner at the New Jersey Cigar Festival in 2021. He was giving Hot Towel Shaves at the event. I enjoyed the shave that day. I now drive an hour or more, depending on traffic to get my head shave and beard done. My lines are sharp. The music they play is fire and the crew is nice. I recommend you check it out. This place is phenomenal, from when I started going to them in Union, to now the new spot in Kenilworth. They have always had a welcoming professional vibe going for them.My barber Luis Cruz is legit, takes his time and has me leaving looking right. Mind you he knows how I like my hair cut but still always takes the time to to verify what I want; you know on them occasions you need the beard to be a little more full and a different taper to it so I appreciate him for always validating first.The entire establishment is great everyone in there greets you with love and truly enjoys what they do.Also they have an amazing front desk host who I believe Christina. She is on point with the scheduling and attending to the customers, from coffee, water, occasionally beer and small talk as you wait for your scheduled appointment.She really helps light up the place as she is friendly and outgoing.I can't say enough good things about this place but do know it's the place you want to go for a chill cut and good company.read more

When I first came to this place when they were in Union, the first thing that I was impressed with was how the people there make you feel welcomed.
