I visited Mentality Barber today (02/01/2025) and had my haircut with Jonah, a student barber there. Jonah did a fantastic job with the guidance of Jody, the owner and head barber, it was a great experience. Jonah is humble, polite, and eager to learn. He’s lucky to have such a great mentor in Jody, and I’m confident that Jonah will continue to improve and do amazing things in the future. I go to Taylor every 2 weeks. Knows what I want I don't even have to explain exactly what I went done been there for about 3 and 1/2 months and for the last month I've let her do what she does based on my taste. You don't get any better than that. Atmosphere is great lot of personalities that work there positive energy all the way through. It's more than just a barber shop you have to go there and experience it to understand. Well worth the price.read more

It was great meeting Amanda. Very professional, amazing Artist and good conversation. It’s been a few years since I’ve been back to Mentality due to not growing my beard back out, and buying a house far away but I knew to get my beard done right Mentality is the place to go. Drove over an hour from Oxford, PA. Amanda is my new barber! Not just a barber but Beard Artist. The relationship was established. :) I will use her once a month. Discovered this spot during a weekend visit with my Dad who was desperate for a barber. Although we did not have an appointment, Jodi was kind enough to fit us in with a trainee barber while giving us the benefit of his expertise. Got my boyfriend in last minute to help touch up his sloppy haircut he got somewhere else. We were recommended their shop for their amazing service and expertise and we were pleasantly surprised on how accurate that was. You can tell the owner, Jodie, genuinely cares and has a passion for making all their customers feel like their best. Tony is the best. I really appreciate the work he puts in and the results. I first went to Tony when getting ready for my wedding in 2021. Since then, I've moved out of the area, been to several other barbers near my new location, and no one has come close to Tony in terms of skill. Nor has anyone come across nearly as affable. I've decided to just return to Tony. I haven't received the same quality of service anywhere else. I never look nearly as good after an appointment as I do after seeing Tony. Luckily, while I live an hour away, I am in the area semi-regularly. So while it's not the most convenient, it is the best choice for me.read more

Tony is an absolute wizard when it comes to honing his craft. His rating should honestly be 6 out of 5 stars. I came in with a lot of hair and he knocked it out of the park extremely efficiently but not at the cost of losing any attention to detail and was always making sure I liked what I was seeing as the cut progressed. Tony is an absolute gem, thanks so much! The haircut itself was $39 but I ended up spending over $100 after tip and Tony recommending the perfect product for my hair. I only add in these details for anyone taken aback by the price I put down, please note that their prices are extremely competitive for the area and very affordable. Tony earned every last cent of that tip - know you are in good hands if you have Tony as your reservation. But honestly, I would trust anyone at MENtality to knock it out of the park. I can only directly review Tony as well as Mike as of right now, but they're all pros at MENtality. You can just tell, I got there early and everyone looked very happy with their cuts as I waited for my appointment. This place is perfect if you're looking for a transformational haircut and really testing the knowledge and skills of their staff. After nothing but MENtality cuts for the past 4+ years I'd put them up with the very best cuts I have ever had. Added brownie points for the shop doggo and extremely clean and professional looking atmosphere. Looked up a place for my husband because he kept getting the same outdated haircut, and I thought to make a different suggestion to him. I found this place on Google maps just 10 minutes from our house. I checked out their photos on Google Profile and it had a great vibe, so we drove there and my husband went in to make an appointment. They had a cancel, and were able to take him on the spot. Fantastic area for me to wait. Super friendly people working there who chatted with me. And my husband looks 10 years younger with the handsome cut from his barber. Win (for us both)! It's hard to find a good barber when your father in law cuts your hair for 37 years, and he's the best you know. But moving to Malvern my son and I both found MENtality on Lancaster Ave to be a fantastic spot for a trim. I have had a haircut from 3 or 4 people here and everyone did a great job. 1st visit for haircut and shave with Amanda, this place was jumping busy but it flowed seamlessly and has a great atmosphere. Amanda is personable and friendly with good conversation as she worked her craft and performed excellent service delivering a high & tight cut along with a full face shave starting with a hot towels and warm shaving lather to soften the surface of my face. My whole life any barber I’ve ever been to, including a relative of mine, has told me I have “a really tough head of hair to cut” due to its thick, coarse texture that grows in multiple different directions. When I sat in Jody’s chair for the first time and mentioned this to him, he looked surprised, took account of what I had going on, and essentially said “nah, I think we’re gonna be fine.” 30 minutes later I was walking out of the shop almost amazed to see what my hair looks like when it’s actually cut well, by a professional who was up for the challenge, if there even was one. I wish I could rate even higher - Krystal made this the BEST haircut experience I have ever had! They were so courteous and kind, and I had left notes when I booked my appointment and you could tell they took those seriously. I gave them a drawing of a character whose hair I loved, and they managed to make my hair in real life look just like it ! How they did that is beyond me, but I am so so happy with the experience I had. This is also the first time I have had a haircut with someone who respected the fact I was non-binary, used my correct pronouns, and really made an effort to make sure I felt amazing about how I looked. When I took college courses in marketing and customer service we were always told that if you have a great product at a great price with great customer service, people will use your product. Well, at Mentality you get all of that all the time. I got my haircut and beard trim today at Mentality and got the very best care by Jody and Robin. You are not going to find a better haircut and beard trim anywhere. I was there a 3 PM today any there were 8 barbers working .Always friendly hello’s in a very friendly atmosphere. To start positive,The service was good, the place had a good atmosphere. The workers were kind, and the inside was well decorated.Onto what lowered my score for the review.I had longer hair, that was very well maintained and groomed. I came in looking to get it slightly shortened, which I specified to my barber, adding that I'd like to add texture to the cut. I told her I wanted it to be "a little bit above the collar" in the back, and to keep the back longer than the front. What I ended up with was a cut with almost 3 inches above the collar on the back, the right side being longer than the left side, the front being twice as long as the back and dead flatness all around. I cannot fathom how my hair could have ended up like this, despite my specific instructions to my barber telling them to do the exact opposite of what's been done.Perhaps if you have shorter hair, a different barber, or a different day, you'll have better results, as it seems based on other reviews that most people are satisfied with their services (And I will say, the customers around me did appear to receive good haircuts). But I should speak for my own experience, which was overwhelmingly negative - especially for services that were so expensive.I'll have to visit another establishment to get my hair fixed, and then spend the better part of the coming year trying to grow it back.read more

This makes a lot more sense to me. Faith did my shampoo and conditioner and WOW!! This lady does not play. Faith's regular shampoo is better than scalp massages I actually paid for. She is the real deal. She takes pride in her job. I have been going to Mentality for a couple of years now for haircuts and recently moved further away but still decide to make the 45 minute drive because it is absolutely worth it. I have had haircuts by Jodi, Jesse, Mercedes, and Tony. They all do a fantastic job while also creating a great friendly, fun and welcoming atmosphere with amazing service all around. Mentality is maddd good at convincing (but not pressuring) to find you your cut that fits with your style, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! 10/10+ stars because the head barber decided to do a new cut (drop fade something?) on my first appointment and I got so many compliments on my haircuts over the months, my confidence has been up and when I get my cut its the best pick-me-up ever! I dig the atmosphere and vibe, the girls up front are always smiling making them and everyone else there mad comfortable to be around, even if you get nervous going to new places or public place like I am. Very disappointed with my haircut by Amanda. She just talked the entire time and didn’t pay attention to what she was doing. It’s was completely uneven on the sides. Like an inch difference. I haven’t been back to Mentality since the pandemic started and was long overdue for a proper cut. The first thing I notice is the new renovation which opened up the entire space; the place looks awesome! When it came time for the cut, I chatted with Steve about what I wanted and he was immediately on the same page. Having that trust with your barber is huge and Steve has that in spades. Honestly, I don’t know how, but he got even better. I wanted a mid fade with the top blended in and he delivered. You couple that with the bomb shampoo / condition head massage by Faith and I forgot how much I missed this place. What a quality experience. I can’t wait to go back. MENtality is the best barber around. Everytime I've been in there it's a great experience with top of the line service. I typically see Jody for my haircuts, who is awesome. Most recently I had Jesse who is equally as great. You can go to MENtality and have confidence that no matter which barber you have you're going to leave looking and feeling much better than when you walked in. I have recommended MENtality to a few friends and they love it as well. I will never go to another place as long as MENtality is an option.read more
