My guy rushed through the entire haircut, it doesn’t look blended at all and is shorter than I wanted. Been to a few places around JC and V’s is the best. Great vibe, very welcoming and covered in sport gear. The barbers are all solid and make it a place to relax and enjoy some self care. It is not only about a great haircut, their services are paramount to none! The staff is caring, accommodating if I run a little late or have to reschedule. Juan is a master with his razor, and scissors. Price is commiserate with area. However the service is what keeps me coming back; they are a great group of people at this spot. Well I would like to start of with saying the environment is very pleasant as soon as you walk into the establishment. My barber Ralphael is a surgeon when it comes to cutting hair. His attention to detail is supreme. He has a good way of making you feel at home while you are getting your haircut and by the time you realize your done. I have been going to this place for the past 2 years and occasionally tried some other barbers in the area. This barbershop feels premium, uses quality equipment, and is always clean. I like the ease of scheduling and availability. However, the haircuts can be a hit or a miss, sometimes perfect, sometimes too short, and sometimes subpar.For my last 3 haircuts I have given the same instructions with the same photo and received 3 different haircuts. My recent haircut was quite disappointing, they cut my hair short even after insisting to preserve length. I feel like the results are highly variable and hard to rate this place. One constant thing in all of my haircuts is that they feel super rushed. My longest haircut lasted probably like 11 minutes and that was one of the better haircuts I have had. I feel like the barbers should ask more questions and make sure they are doing what the customer wants and not cutting hair short when people say "preserve length".Additionally, since early 2021 the prices have gone up significantly. I believe in late 2020 to early 2021 a haircut was about $25-27 and now it is $40. Inflation is a thing but an inflation adjusted increase should be about 15-20% at about $33. Taking this into account, I tried Great Clips which is 2 minutes away from V's, and had slightly worse haircuts for $18.My friends insist taking my business elsewhere like Balkan Barber and Virile (junior barbers are cheaper than V's) or maybe save some money and go to Great Clips. However, the rare but occasional perfect haircut is what brings me back to V's every time.read more

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at the barbershop. This was my first time at this barbershop. The barber completed an undercut in less than 10 minutes. I took a seat in the chair at 6:58 and was already out of the shop by you exactly 7:10. Dude did not care how much force he applied while cutting my hair. The razor was used hastilly and roughly. And when he used the comb to pull my hair, it felt like he was trying to yank my head off, it was very painful to be pulled like that. The entire experience was incredibly awful. I would not recommend this place.read more

Worst haircut I’ve ever gotten, and I’ve had a lot of bad haircuts. He took 10 minutes for the entire haircut and it showed. I had long hair patches in the back where it should have been faded, completely misshapen on both sides, and random patches he cut way too short. Spare yourself and go ANYWHERE else. Whoa I should have waited for my actual barber instead of going here. Showed a picture of the style and cut I wanted. It’s a nice place and clean. But totally not happy with my cut. With a guided blade how do you even miss spots. The cut wasn’t hyped up for that amount. Total disappointment cause I went to the shop in Hoboken. Absolutely terrible! Showed the barber (Jay) a picture of myself with the haircut I wanted and told him I don’t use any product for my hair. Somehow he assumed not using product translates to not even blow-drying hair and went ahead to cut my hair ultra short with no warning through the process and kept saying I need to keep my eyes closed. Apparently now I have a hairstyle that can do without product or even a blow-dry so he believes he did a good job. Outrightly the worst hair cut I have ever had. And to top it all, because Jay’s quite partial to using razors for a clean finish, he ended up nicking my cheek as well! Do yourself a favour and find a different barbershop / salon. Jay butchered my beard and cut… this man moved 500 miles a minute and listened to a quarter of what I said… He did one eyebrow without asking and didn’t even touch the other, did the polar opposite of what I asked with my beard, and my hair looks like a 5 year old cut it… I would not go here… I would never go to a Great Clips but it’s across the street for half as much and they would have been 5 times better… I spent more than I would have liked and expected a better experienceread more

Writing this as a warning for any potential customers. You're money is better spent going elsewhere. I don't normally write reviews but this was well below minimum expectations.My haircut was 'finished' in less than 10 minutes (with no time pressure / line of customers behind me). I booked a 30 minute slot. Side burns were left uneven (one cut and the other not). The attempt at doing a fade was done with a single trim guard size and a whipping motion and is the worst that I have ever had. Trimming the top with scizzors was done haphazardly and more than what was asked was removed.I could've gotten the same effect with an at home kit and no experience.read more

Came in for a very simple hair cleanup, wanted to shave the sides and keep the top long. The entire haircut took around 15 minutes. Barber rushed through it and didn't pay much attention. Smeared a bunch of shaving cream into my hair too for no real reason in his rush to finish. Then got charged 40$. Haircut itself was uneven and patches of long strands of hair. Cut ended up decent, but Jay was working way too fast. This would have been fine on it’s own, except when he went to shave the back of my neck, he went super fast and didn’t use any shaving cream, and really tore up the back of my neck. After I left, my neck was really hurting, and was very red and raw. Also sent me home with wet hair for some reason. Not sure why he was in such a hurry. Normally I always advocate for small business but felt the need to express my extreme displeasure with the service my boyfriend has received on two different occasions. Normally we would give the benefit of the doubt, but being that this was the second time this happened we felt the need to post a review.After his first appointment he noticed significant irritation from the straight razor shave on the back of his neck. Having been getting barber style haircuts for 30 years and never getting this type of irritation he thought it was just a one time instance, and as mentioned, gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, after his most recent appointment he not only had the same irritation, but he had a cut on the side of his face by his sideburns, and small cuts/bleeding by his ears. Keep in mind he has gotten several haircuts between the first and second incident at V’s from other barbershops and had ZERO irritation. While the cuts are minor and will heal, this is unacceptable from any barbershop and we will never be using their services again.read more

Well once, but that was sorted right away before I walked out the door.Youssef is my go to and it’s always a pleasant experience. We catch up, we share a few laughs and I leave better than how I arrived. He knows what I get and I walk in and he asks, “your usual” and he gets to business.There’s a few new faces there and it does seem a little quieter, but you can hear each barber talking to their client and to me, it makes the shop feel homie. I travel 2 hours from PA back to Jersey City to get a cut and to see family, but I’m totally fine if it’s just for a haircut. I highly recommend them.read more

I don't usually post reviews unless the service is completely horrible or extraordinary. I am new to the neighborhood and I went to this place on the basis of reviews. The barber I was completely unprofessional, first he started talking on his phone for 5 minutes and he was scheduling his next appointment with a customer. He showed 0 to no interest in the haircut. I told him I needed a comb over and I don't know how you can cut that uneven. He was rushing through the cut and I was out in 10 minutes. I am not even kidding. I was literally out in 10 minutes. You can see from the picture how uneven my hair are for comb over. I am not that good with confrontation other wise I would have not paid him even a single dollar for this. I had the pleasure of getting a cut from Viggs. He was friendly and knew what he was doing. I asked for a combover with a skin fade on the sides and it turned out exactly how I wanted it too. He also notices the little details like those pesky little hairs that are sticking out and he sorted that out too. This was one of the cleanest cuts I’ve gotten at this place.
