Joe is a licensed barber with over 26 years of experience, and is the man behind Joe's Throwback Barber Shop. There are now 3 barbers at Joe's that give you old school barbershop hospitality in addition to modern grooming styles. All haircuts are finished with straight razor service. They also offer razor cutting and full service straight razor shaves for a more pampering experience.

I have been going to Joe for a few years now and have always been very happy with his haircuts. Joe is extremely professional, friendly and courteous. If he is running a few minutes late, which is very rare, he will shoot me a text to let me know he is running behind which I really appreciate. The barbershop also has a very friendly atmosphere and Joe makes everyone feel welcomed from steady customers to first time walk-ins. Overall a great shop and highly recommended.read more

Always get a great haircut here. I have always gone to Joe, the owner, so I can't speak on the other barbers. Joe has been cutting hair forever and can do any style you prefer. It's nice to be able to make an appointment and sit right down as soon as I walk in. I used to wait over an hour when I was going to another shop that doesn't take appointments, which was frustrating. Overall, this place is awesome, everyone is nice, and Joe gives some proper haircuts.read more

Joe was some how able to get me in same day for an appointment on a busy Friday. I sat down in Jarred’s chair and have never been more satisfied with a cut. More than fairly priced compared to most other spots in the neighborhood. No frills old-school barbering with modern abilities. Straight razor finish. Nice people, neighborhood clientele. Great haircut and great service. I called to make sure they were open and taking wall-ins but my call went to voicemail. By the time I hung up, they were already returning my call to tell me they were. As for the haircut, it was exactly what I asked for. Matthew was very thorough and a true craftsman. We love it here, my son has been going there since he 5 years old, he only wants to go here, we tried other places they were not good. My husband goes here now too, that i had my son going there. My boys have been going there for over 2 years. We are Latino and their hair is thick. You wouldn't expect a barber in roxborough to know how to cut their hair but every barber there has! Anytime I went to Joe’s I got a great hair cut. This time I took my 18 month old son, Joe there. Sue was great with him. Only second haircut and Joe (not barber Joe) didn’t cry once. My son has been going to Joe's for a few years now and loves the place. I have been bringing my grandsons for the past 6 months, they don't sit still all the time. Last night Brian cut their hair, besides doing an amazing job on both of them he had the patience of a Saint and calmly refocused them to stay still and got the job done. INSANE!!! i’ve been to 5 different places to achieve that perfect platinum blonde. My hair had been super botched from other stylists who failed to give me the proper coloring, treatment and services. However, after making an appointment with Sue, I’ve finally gotten the color i’ve been wanting for so long!!! She is honestly the best. Super personable, careful and actually listens to what you need and want! She also taught me many tips and tricks on how to keep my hair perfect and healthy. Sue is wonderful and 100% will recommend to anyone I know. The best part is that I was able to schedule an appointment with her THE NEXT MORNING!! For a full root and color treatment!! Never have I been able to make a hair coloring appointment that soon before. Prices were super affordable, and appointments we very flexible. Great place to get your hair cut for men, women and kids. This place is always clean and the people who work here are always pleasant and friendly. I would recommend Sue and the owner Joe to get your hair cut. I just got my son's (My son is 14 months old) hair cut last week and he looks so adorable. Joe did such a great job. I went this place for over a year and Sue did my hair and I absolutely loved!Last week I realized that Sue had left here so I thought maybe it will be good to give another barber a shot. I booked an appointment with Joe and I absolutely regret it. I was growing the undercut that I had for over 5 months now. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he started working on it. He took the whole part that I grew, off and made it way shorter that it was before!I'm happy that he realized his mistake and made the service free for me. But I HATE the result, and still crying over it. I'm sure I'm not coming back to this establishment. I think bad communication and not involving the customer in the step by step process was the problem.read more

The place might not pass the eye test on the outside. But once you step in, it’s a great set up & popular because of the professionalism within it. I tried out the place yesterday because supercuts kept messing up my hair. Sonia gave me the best cut I’ve had since I moved here 3 years ago. Started going here back in 2022 and saw Shelby. I really liked her haircuts. She knew exactly what I wanted and how to cut it. However by the start of 2023, they raised the price of a haircut by $6. Kind of steep if you ask me, but I liked going there so I stuck it out. However after 2 last minute cancelations, and then having an appointment of mine delayed by 45 minutes after I had already gotten there, I decided to go elsewhere. $41 with tip is a lot for a haircut at a barber shop IMO, but I never had a bad haircut with Shelby, just the cost and the appointment issues led me to go elsewhere.read more

Took my son to Joes in rox last week. Typically he goes to my hairdresser at a salon, he cries and throws a fit most of the time. I figured I’d try a new environment and take him to a big boy barbershop. We request Joe, however since he gets out of school a little later we were not able to get Joe. He suggested JR and told us that we were in good hands. Jr did such a great job and treated my son to a big kid hair cut. He did such an amazing job, when we left my son said he loved it and wants to go back!! Hopefully we get Joe next time but we are confident in all of his team already!!
