Hair Mechanix in Howell, MI is a fun, MALE-friendly place where men get what they deserve. Built by guys for guys and powered by better girls. The attentive and talented staff offer all current and vintage hairstyles. The barber shop is lined with big screen TV's and photos covering the walls, along with rock music on the speakers. Also, you can sit back and relax with a complimentary beer. Each haircut includes a wash and hot towel neck shave. Hair color and waxing services are available as well. It's certainly a man focused experience. Locations in Michigan, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

So far I have had (3) nice cuts from two nice ladies here. Prices are reasonable, and the Billi Jeleousy beard butter is the best I've found. It is a cool looking place, and you might have a cold beverage while you wait as well. Glad they came to Howell, while LJ's did not.The pinup art is cool and beautiful. I originally wanted to come to the hair mechanics in Howell when I first tried them out as a company but they were open yet so I went to Brighton and they did a great job.This review is 110% about the Howell location and more specifically Franchesca who specifically cut my hair. I want to start by saying I haven't had a better haircut since 2008 from a female stylist. She took her time, she listened to what I wanted to a T, she is very personable and provided some fun conversation, all leaving me with a final product that I could not be more happy with. I hope she never quits because I'm going to have to find somebody else if she does and it's taken since 2008 to find someone this good. I brought my 12 year old son in for a haircut, and it was awesome. First of all, this was the first cut after a very traumatic haircut at another place I’ll call “LJ” in Brighton. They completely messed up his hair and it took months for him to grow out. We decided to go here because it was closer to home and had pretty good reviews. Before we even walked in, he said, “that’s a rad name for a haircut place!” Then, when we walked in, he said, “wow this place looks cool! What?? A TV playing Bob Ross?! Stop. It doesn’t get better than that.” He had his hair cut by Ashley J, and she actually listened, was sympathetic to his apprehension about having his hair cut again, and reassured him that she would do exactly what he wanted. She kept him in the loop with everything she was doing, and asked him about his preferences every step along the way. Y’all, my boy was smiling the whole time. She was super sweet and gave him an amazing haircut!! When we walked out, he said, “this is it, mom! This is the exact haircut I wanted last time from the other place. I’m only coming here from now on. Dad should go here, too.” Honestly the best. Thank you so much! We will absolutely be back, and I highly recommend Hair Mechanix in Howell!! ALSO, I need to add this— it’s a men’s haircut place, but as a cis woman, I did not feel even the slightest bit uncomfortable. I’ve felt super uncomfortable and unwelcome at a lot of mens-centric hair cutting places, but I didn’t here. That’s important to me, and I honestly appreciate it. The whole atmosphere is really just chill and awesome. Good music, good vibes, cool people.read more

The service was excellent. Online said there was no one available for my cut. I went up there anyways. There was only one customer. My stylist did everything perfect all the way down to the straight edge shave around my beard. It was like going to a old school barber shop.read more

I went in for a haircut yesterday morning. They were backed up but made me an appointment for later in the day. When I cam in for my appointment they were all ready for me. I wish I could remember the girls name that did my hair. She was so awesome. she gave me a cut shampoo and even waxed my ears. While she was doing my hair she was pleasant to chat with. I walked in on a whim, I had very long hair I'd been growing for a few years.My stylist Lorin knocked it out of the park. Helped tie off my hair in braids to donate, and knew exactly how to cut my type of hair. Started with one idea, and she let me change mid cut and made it look exceptional. I went in to the shop for the first time today. The vibe was awesome, and the staff were fantastic. I was getting ready for a wedding out of state and wanted to get my beard cleaned up. I'm very self conscious of my beard and wanted some style. I also didn't want to mess it up my self. Kara was my stylist and she freaking rock. Lorin is the epitome of customer service. Not only did she cut my hair exactly how I wanted it, but she took the time to see how I was doing. She is a consummate professional. I wish I lived in the area so I could visit regularly. I’m looking forward to my next visit. To be honest, if she is eligible for a bonus, or some sort of compensation increase, don’t delay.
